Get to know Ravi Bhatnagar, Account Director at Anabas, as he goes under the spotlight…
What is your current role at Anabas, and how long have you worked here?
I’m currently an Account Director for Anabas looking after three contracts in London. My total team is just over 100 people.
Why did you choose a career in FM?
I love working with people and behind the scenes. It seemed like a good fit.
What advice would you give to someone starting out in the FM industry?
No two days are the same and never stop learning. Soak up as much information as you can.
What challenges do you foresee for the industry in the coming year?
Getting the balance of people and technology right.
Who in your career has inspired you?
My team always inspires me.
If you were not an Account Director, what would you be?
I enjoy working with a team behind the scenes so, if I wasn’t an Account Director, I think I would want to work on the crew of a movie or TV series.
What are your hobbies/interests away from the office?
I really enjoy exploring new places. I love travelling, but it doesn’t have to be far, drop me in a new city or area and I love just wandering around seeing what a place is like.
If you could have dinner with any three people from any time, fictional or non-fictional, who would they be and why?
Kind of like my travel philosophy, I’d be happy to sit with just about anyone. If I had to choose three people though, they would be JJ Abrams, Steven Spielberg and Kathryn Bigelow. They’re all great directors, and I think they would make for an entertaining evening.
Which country would you most like to visit and why?
Greece, it’s my favourite place to go.
What is your favourite book?
I really enjoyed The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson. If you’re looking for a more educational book, I found Blink by Malcolm Gladwell fascinating. I’ve read it a few times.
