Joanne is one of our Account Executives and is based at our Business Support Centre in Darlington. Joanne is currently on the Team Leader Level 3* apprenticeship with Lifetime Training. Learn about her apprenticeship journey with Anabas as she answers questions on her experience so far…
An apprenticeship offers a diverse learning experience which is something that really interests me. My apprenticeship with Lifetime Training is allowing me to significantly develop my skill set and knowledge so that I have the confidence and ability to succeed and progress in my career at Anabas.
As part of the Helpdesk team, client satisfaction is always my key focus. No two days are the same on the Helpdesk and this is what I love so much about my role. I am constantly multi-tasking and ensuring each client is given the support they need on a daily basis, whether this is via a phone call or responding to an email. I pay particular attention to detail so that we meet our clients’ expectations and they are satisfied with the service at Anabas.
Every day is different in my job and I never know what the day ahead will bring. This is something that I really love as it makes the job interesting and exciting. I really enjoy a challenge and this role definitely keeps me on my toes.
Anabas is a great company to work for – they really care about their employees’ well-being and are extremely supportive. They are constantly looking at ways to improve within the business and always listen to employees’ ideas and suggestions which makes me feel proud to be part of a fantastic team.
When I first began my course, I found it difficult to manage my time between working and studying. It was proving difficult to find the time to complete my studies and this was a great concern for me. However, my apprenticeship allows me to learn at my own pace and I soon settled into a routine of working and studying. With the continuous support and guidance from Anabas, I am now finding it much more manageable and an enjoyable experience.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?
Absolutely. An apprenticeship requires commitment and hard work but this will all be worth it in the end. My confidence has grown since starting my apprenticeship and this has given me the opportunity to identify my strengths and weaknesses to improve my abilities wherever I can.
What would you say are the main benefits of doing an apprenticeship?
The main benefit of doing an apprenticeship is learning new skills and putting into practice what you have learnt. Apprenticeships offer fantastic opportunities to progress onto other qualifications and move up the career ladder, increasing earning potential and enhancing your CV.
How would you like your career to develop?
I would like to use the skills and knowledge I have gained from my apprenticeship to progress within Anabas and develop my skills further. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me and look forward to a long and successful career with Anabas.
What advice would you give to prospective apprentices considering going down the apprenticeship route?
If you are in a position where an apprenticeship is an option, then go for it. It’s a great way to improve your employability, as well as receive recognised qualifications and advance through the Levels. Be prepared and be selfish, because at the end of the day… you only get out what you put in!
